Walking & Hiking

There's no better way to explore the island than on foot; there are just so many excellent walks and hikes in such a small place!  We have walks for everyone, walks that are challenging in distance, stamina and mind and there are also moderate and easy walks for everyone to enjoy.  Our walks can take you to the dramatic coastal locations to the lush green pastures and rolling hills.

The St Helena Nature Conservation Group (SNCG) has devised  21 Post Box Walks covering some of the most scenic and remote areas of the island.   These walks are rated on a Difficulty scale out of 10 and it is strongly recommended that on walks with a rating of 5 or above, you are accompanied by someone who knows the route.  At the summit of each walk is a Post Box containing an ink stamp and a 'Visitor's Book'.   The Post Box Walks booklets are on sale at the Tourist Office.
