St Helena Island has no airport however, there are plans to develop air access by 2012!   Presently, the only mode of travel is by ship. The island's own RMS St Helena calls here regularly.

Our mailship provides frequent services between Portland (UK), Tenerife, Ascension Island, St Helena Island and Cape Town (RSA). Other cruise ships also visit St Helena Island.

The Ship

The RMS St Helena was built in Scotland in 1990 and provides cargo and passenger services.

The ship has a number of facilities onboard. These include: bars, lounge areas, sun deck, swimming pool and duty-free shop.
Entertainment on the ship consists of nightly theme parties, daily activities, food and drink throughout the day, feature films and more!

Passports & Visas are required for all ports of call.
Communications by telephone, fax and email facilities are available via satellite on board. Currency exchange is available on the ship. A commission of 1% is levied.
Dress code is "informal" during the day and smart- casual for evening time. Theme parties are advised to passengers during the voyage.
Landing is by a tender or a special and licensed landing craft which transports passengers between the ship and port.

Customs control is thorough.  There are strict controls on the importation of fruit, vegetables and animals.  For further information please see FAQs.
